Yeah, for example:
_Hodgkinsonia ovatiflora_ has stipules – as usual in most species in the Rubiaceae botanical plant family.
_Olea paniculata_ does not have stipules – Oleaceae botanical plant family – in which not many spp. have stipules .

I'll let you do the authorial honours of adding this identification to this your own sighting, (as usual for me).
I'm happy to then confirm this identification.
