Vermicella annulata - Common name Band-bandy. Maybe 75cm long. Rarely sighted species (this observer three records in 35 years...). Wet nights may bring them above ground. Noted as 'highly venomous' but mouth is so small it seems hardly likely to harm a human.
Fantastic sighting. They are reputedly around Canberra/Queanbeyan but no sightings in a very long time. Probably impacted by grazing and development. but I hope they are still here somewhere. I'm stoked to see this sighting from the Hunter region.
