NatureMapr signs up to RASD

NatureMapr has signed up to the National Framework for the Sharing of Restricted Access Species Data, the RASD:

Restricted Access Species Data (RASD) are biodiversity datasets which contain information which may compromise individuals, species, personal property or landholdings and that have some restriction over availability of the data.

We have always safeguarded the precise location of highly sensitive species as well as records listed within private property through NatureMapr's own security model. This security underpins every part of the platform and will always continue to do so as it's critical for the correct handling of the information we are responsible for looking after. We've always taken this responsibility extremely seriously.

We're also very proud to be able to tell you that your Aussie biodiversity data is hosted here in Sydney, NSW Australia and does not get shipped off and hosted on overseas servers that Australia has little control over.

RASD allows us to advertise the fact that we do safeguard such information in compliance with a nationally recognised framework, while also allowing us to advertise this information as being available for legitimate use cases upon request and under the terms of the framework.

It is ultimately a very good thing and it means we can do more to ensure your data has the maximum possible impact by getting to more places where it is used to make real world decisions.
