Hi All,
We are very proud of the recent work on the NatureMapr mobile app.
The app now has a rating of 4.7/5 stars on iOS and 4.3/5 stars on Google Play - we expect our Google Play ranking to reach 4.5 stars soon as further 5 star reviews continue to be submitted (thanks to everybody that has taken the time out of their busy schedules to leave us a review).
This is considerably higher than other citizen science apps and is a reflection of the massive investment and efforts of our team (thank you Tim, Katarina, Lewis) for the intensive efforts that went into this - you guys have been amazing.
User feedback on the new app has been extremely positive and we encourage you to give it a try if you haven't uploaded via the mobile app yet.
We have these things planned for the short to medium term:
- New ACT threatened species priority species list import under way
- Hook up announcements from any collection to daily summary emails
- Additional sensitive data handling controls (in consultation with NSW government Saving Our Species team)
- Improve auto complete search results and taxonomy/species selection
- Collection Moderator privilege improvements to support Glossies in the Mist and any other collection with similar requirements. Collection moderators will be able to perform moderator like functions on all sightings that belong to a collection as well maintaining any special fields/attributes that apply to records in the collection
- Mobile app search behaviour will be aligned to web search behaviour providing a consistent experience across both channels
- Mobile app will introduce ability to sort image order prior to upload
- Mobile app improvments in saving audio files locally and image meta data on iOS
- Extension of moderator "verify by" functionality to allow uploading of ecological report PDF file as proof of record verification (NSW BCT funded enhancement)
- Pre-defined "one click", flexible moderator responses to help save moderators time when providing feedback E.g. "Could you please check the location of your record" or "Could you please take an additional photo inside the reptile's mouth" (NSW BCT funded enhancement)
- Species details page look and feel refresh to align to rest of platform
- User profile page improvements and reintroduction of counts across collections (previously counts across regions)
- User profile "moderator activity" will list all verifications and activity by moderators directly on their profile page
- Further consolidation and simplification of platform wide navigation structure
- Data import facility date handling bug will be resolved
- NSW BioNet feed activation
- ALA data matching improvements
- Enhancements to collection dashboards so that more metrics, insights and trends are available for collections
- Decomission remaining survey functionality in full (30 Jun).
- Other minor bug fixes and performance improvements
