Its location can't rule out that it was planted - plantings were put in to screen the water tanks, but equally it may be native to Red Hill, as its local stronghold is the Murrumbidgee River corridor which Red Hill was pretty well connected to via the Molonglo River, for instance Grevillea juniperina subsp fortis, which is a Murrumbidgee species also occurs on Red Hill
