Can I get confirmation that dealbata is native to Aranda? I’ve got someone telling me it isn’t.

Yes native, or at least native to box gum grassy woodland ecosystems that you’d have there. Trying to work out what is “native” to Aranda is a tad nitpicky in my view, if it’s native to the ACT then it’s fine (with perhaps a few exceptions).

Actually what your friend is trying to get at might be more along the lines of “not typically part of dry sandstone woodlands” which is true. Doesn’t make it non-native tho

Yes agree with the above, also important to consider many things like Wattles especially (or also Sifton Bush) are good colonisers of disturbed areas and whilst native to the local area have probably expanded with the expansion of disturbance too.

Thanks. It was just a bit of confusion about why it wasn't included on an article about weedy wattles. The fact that is wasn't listed confused someone, but it isn't weedy for the ACT - ie, it is indigenous and not naturalising beyond it's normal area. Some of the indigenous ones were listed because they are establishing outside their normal confines. It took a while but we sorted it out.
I'm at KV so look forward to some SCNM sightings :-)
