I have to say I'm a bit on the fence here, you can take my thoughts with a slight grain of salt as I know I haven't always been right especially with these ones. The stems appear to lack much hairs and leaves seem slightly wrong and more towards glaucous then I would expect for perennans. I'm thinking the grooves on the seed look more U-shaped than V-shaped though this is a bit hard to assess I think this personally does look very like the seed reference image on Vicflora (see: https://vicflora.rbg.vic.gov.au/flora/taxon/6fef7757-e2e7-40e7-92c4-9d464a2c5d0e#&gid=1&pid=2 ). The things making me doubt this is that I tend to associate O. rubens as more of a dune/beachside thing, even though this is very close to the beach I'm not sure how sandy/duney the soil or habitat is here. I also can't see any redness on the stems either of which I'd probably expect to see at least some on O. rubens. Hope this helps, let me know what your thoughts were

This was just in back behind the dunes themselves, but the soil is still essentially sand. Tall Blackbutt forest. I think whichever way we go it will be based on characters of the fruit as you say. I'll have to give this one more thought
