@marcycad penny for your thoughts? I want to say maybe X.johnsonii but admittedly that's me being lazy and not checking distributions. The plant is located at Bucketty NSW near Watagans
@Tapirlord -thankyou. The BCT survey of our property includes Xanthorrhoea media in the species list. The vegetation mapping for the area (Lower Hunter, Cessnock LGA Vegetation) includes Xanthorrhoea latifolia (Xanthorrhoea media spp. latifolia). I'm not sure why, but I can't bring up that species in the ID list.
There are several species that occur in this region, including: X. minor minor, X. macronema, X. fulva, X. resinosa, X. latifolia, X. media, X. malacophylla, X. johnsonii, and X. glauca, the leaf colour does appear to give a glaucous hue, but this may not be the true plant colour on account of camera settings and light levels. This would be southernmost limit for both X. johnsonii and X. malacophylla, and northern most distribution for X. resinosa. The structure does not support either X. minor or X. macronema, there is a lack of any relevant detail or the presence of a flower spike, which would assist to determine to species level, it remains is inconclusive as to the species. Incidentally, Xanthorrhoea media subsp. latifolia does not exist and is an obsolete synonym for X. media and is no longer in use.
